e. coli colony description
What is the difference between cloning and subcloning?

PCR amplicons and take them into a vector, then put the vector in E. coli. I growth of E. coli out on a plate, then take a colony to the transfer of liquid agar. I thought this was the cloning, but then I found with the term "sub-cloning" in a job description. What is the difference?

Subcloning is when you cut the insertion of a vector and then transfer it to another vector. This is done because the new vector allows you to do something I could not do in the first vector. For example, may be the insertion sequence while in the first array, but now she wants to express the fragment and it can not be done in the original vector. Part of the original vector can be transferred in the process.
